Economic Impact

Established in 1913, Fullerton College is an educational and economic powerhouse in North Orange County and is among the largest and oldest community colleges in the state of California. The value of Fullerton College influences both the lives of students and the county economy. Fullerton College promotes economic growth in Orange County in a variety of ways. The college is an employer and buyer of goods and services, and the living expenses of students benefit local businesses. In addition, Fullerton College is a primary source of education to Orange County residents and a supplier of trained workers to county industries.

The overall impact of Fullerton College on the local business community during the analysis year 2016-2017 amounted to $793.6 million in added income, equal to the sum of the operations spending impact, the student spending impact, and the alumni impact.

Measure J and Other Campus Projects

Over the next 20 years, Fullerton College will roll out comprehensive construction and renovation projects thanks to Measure J, a voter-approved bond from the November 2014 election. The initial priority projects include a parking structure; a Lab School (childcare center) and a horticulture building.

Additional plans include among others, a Welcome Center, which will house student/veteran services, a classroom building, a performing arts center and final renovations to the classroom buildings that were not included in the previous bond, Measure X. Formally called the Fullerton/Cypress Colleges Repair and Student/Veteran Job Training Measure, Measure J generates $574 million for facility improvements, upgrades, and repairs at North Orange County Community College District schools which also include Cypress College and the School of Continuing Education.

The college offers a vibrant lineup of arts and cultural events that are open to the surrounding community as well as plant sales and athletic competitions. Dia de los Muertos

For more than 20 years, the college has attracted over 1,000 visitors to the annual Dia de los Muertos festival in the fall. Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday devoted to celebrating and remembering those who have passed. The event features DJs, Aztec dancers, a Folklorico dance group, food, and numerous handmade ofendras. Enjoy these photos from the 2017 festival.

Visit the renowned Fullerton College Art Gallery in Building 1000 for the best in established and up-and-coming artists from around the world and around the corner. The Artist in Residence program attracts acclaimed artists each year and pieces from the college’s extensive private collection often rotate through the exhibitions. Visit the gallery’s website.

More than 23,000 students attend Fullerton College each year. Many of these students learn about the value of higher education and their potential at Fullerton College long before they fill out their college application. Partnerships like the Amgen Biotech ExperienceAnaheim Union Educational Pledge, Fullerton Partnership, Orange County Teacher Pathway Partnership, Orange County Biotech Education Partnership, High School Theatre Festival, Jazz Festival and annual KinderCaminata event for kindergartners, help the college instill the importance of higher education in students during their formative K-12 years.

Disney Aspire

Fullerton College is a part of the Disney Aspire network. Disney Aspire is the Walt Disney Company’s education investment and career development program offers 100% tuition paid upfront for hourly employees.

There are more than 29,500 hourly employees eligible to participate in Disney Aspire in the state of California, thousands of whom are already enrolled. As a result of these new additions, it’s anticipated that employees will also be able to attend select courses in person as well as online.

Bachelor and Graduate students

Please visit Grants and Economic Workforce Development to learn more about opportunities. Additionally, the Graduate Student Mentorship Program (GSI) pairs graduate students up with faculty mentors in order to provide assistance to Fullerton College basic skills students. With faculty mentor guidance, the interns provide tutoring and course-specific workshops throughout the semester. Facility Rentals

Many Fullerton College facilities are available for community use, including the Campus Theatre, Wilshire Auditorium, conference rooms, classrooms and more. Reservations must be made six business days in advance for internal campus events. Outside rentals must be submitted 21 business days in advance. Rentals are subject to fees and clients will be asked to provide insurance, and a copy of an IRS 501(c)(3) letter if using non-profit rates.
